Why Use a Professional Printer and Recommendation: Chattanooga, TN Photographer

There is much debate in the photography world about putting the printing of our works of art in the hands of our clients. It is widely thought that some clients just don't understand the importance of a quality printer, either at the professional or consumer level, and we should never offer a disc to clients and only offer prints and products.

I choose to offer a disc of digital images to my clients because that's what I would want. I am my ideal client. A busy stay at home mom, who barely has time for a session, much less viewing, ordering and picking up an order. When I look for a photographer, I want someone who offers digital images and who fits within my budget.  So that's what I strive to be. I love the convenience of digitals!

With that said, I cringe inside when I hear people getting professional photos printed at Walmart. There are better and in some cases (Walgreens) cheaper options, so why not blog about it.

First, here is an example image of the difference between a professional and local printer.

The above photo provided with permission from www.misszphotography.com. Thank you so much for allowing me to use your image!

That's a crazy difference, right?! So now that you see the difference and what local print labs can do to a photo, let me tell you who I recommend...and their pricing!

I highly recommend www.mpix.com. They are a consumer print lab that prints at professional quality. You do not have to be a photographer to use this company! Not only do they have professional quality, they offer competitive prices to the local supercenters and pharmacies.

For example:
            MPIX                         Walmart                       Walgreens
                                           1hr/Delivery
4x6:       $0.29                       $0.19/0.09                          $0.20
5x7:       $1.09                       $1.47/0.58                          $2.49
8x10:     $2.09                               $2.84                          $3.99
11x14:   $7.49                               $5.89                        $10.99
16:20:    $16.99                           $12.86                        $15.99
20x30:   $26.99                           $18.86                        $23.99

So why are you still using your local lab? You paid for a quality product, now use a quality printer!

Stay tuned.....
Since Christmas is just around the corner, I'll be talking about greeting card printing and your options here soon! Also on the blogging block, canvas options!
